Mr Mitul Desai

After completing a BSc in Economics and Politics, I studied an MSc in Management Science, which I passed with distinction. In the summer of 2006 as part of the Master courses I spent three months working with Hampshire County Council.  I built a system dynamics model that projected forward demand for social care services by elderly people. The model was able to demonstrate the possible impact an ageing population could have over a five year period under various scenarios.

I have continued the research from the summer project as part of a PhD. The research involves forecasting the demand for long-term care over the next eighteen years using the system dynamics methodology. I have also used the discrete-event simulation approach as part of the work.

From September 2010 I will be starting a career as a Management Consultant with Capgemini in their Operational Research Group.
