Chief Information and Knowledge Officer
I lead on modelling and simulation for the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, which is keen to promote use of these techniques to address the severe challenge faced by healthcare – how to increase efficiency and productivity whilst maintaining quality.
We funded the development and deployment of Scenario Generator throughout PCTs across England, where it is used for whole system population-based modelling of healthcare delivery, helping communities plan the redistribution of healthcare services.
The NHS Institute also commissioned the development of a curriculum for the application of operational research to strategic healthservice planning (known as the TORCH project).
I am delighted to have had the opportunity in all of these activities to support MASHnet, which we believe to be the ideal vehicle for supporting the emerging interest in health service modelling.
